Cabin Crew benefits

“I was lucky enough to get a discounted ticket to Kampala, Uganda on the same flight as my friend Karen who worked for BA. The service out was excellent as I got upgraded to business class (great for my Executive Club Card).

On the flight I chatted to the crew who obviously knew their responsibilities inside out and were really approachable and interesting. One of the crew was mad for safaris and photography so we made a plan to do that the next day.

I also met a really interesting passenger who worked for the International Monetary Fund in Uganda supporting projects to improve working lives of women – you get to meet all kinds of people if you ask them questions!

And yes, the crew member and I did make it to the safari – 7am start after a very late night party in the bar and only 2 hours sleep!? But it was worth it – stood on the equator; got chased by a hippopotamus protecting her baby; sailed to the source of the Nile; stood 1 foot away from a crocodile’s mouth (sleeping thank goodness – or maybe bored?) and walked with zebra, warthogs and monkeys! Not bad for 24 hours and worth every penny!”
